Getting to Gros Morne usually involves flying into Deer Lake Regional Airport (YDF), which is about a 1-hour drive (75 km) from the park entrance at Wiltondale. Newfoundland has a limited fleet of vehicles, and during the summer peak, it is not uncommon for rentals to be completely sold out.

Once inside the park, a vehicle is essential as the attractions are spread out over a large area. The drive between Rocky Harbour (north side) and Woody Point (south side) takes about an hour, although a seasonal water taxi for pedestrians connects the two towns. Weather here is famously changeable; pack a good Gore-Tex rain jacket, sturdy hiking boots, and layers that can handle everything from warm sunshine to chilly coastal gales in a single afternoon.
